Proton Mail

If you want to send a more secure email, you can send it to destinationcharged@protonmail.com. If you send it from a free Proton Mail email address, it will be end-to-end encrypted. You can learn more about Proton Mail by clicking here.

OnionShare Secure Dropbox

We have an OnionShare dropbox set up to send us files anonymously. Using the Tor web browser, visit ptevlj4vlai5xx4rz4skmqeba35xdyp5fcfbjnhg3krkcqzuzlcpgrid.onion and from there, you can submit your file. Since this is an anonymous communications method, if you require a reply, be sure to include secure contact information in the text box with the files. It is not necessary, however, to submit.

Advice

If you are sending a tip or leak via one of our secure methods, be sure to do it from a non-work device. If you are using a public computer, be sure to look for cameras, and beware of anyone near you. While the communications method might be secure, it doesn’t stop someone from looking over your shoulder.

Additionally, a device you own is far less likely to have monitoring software on it, making it more difficult for someone to intercept your communications. For more information, the Freedom of the Press Foundation is an excellent resource.

Every effort is made to protect the identity of a source. Keep in mind that the files you submit might contain metadata linking you to the data. We make every effort to remove the metadata — and so should you — before publishing any files. We also keep our communications private, and when you reach out, everything is considered off the record until discussed otherwise.

That being said, we can’t guarantee that your identity won’t eventually be identified, and assume no responsibility should that occur.
