Stellantis has introduced the 2026 Jeep Cherokee, featuring a redesigned exterior, updated technology, and the company’s first hybrid powertrain in a midsize SUV for the North American market. The vehicle will begin arriving at dealerships in late 2025, with entry-level trims following in early 2026.
The 2026 Cherokee is powered by a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system paired with a two-motor transmission. The combined output is rated at 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Stellantis estimates the vehicle will achieve 37 mpg combined and deliver more than 500 miles of range on a full tank. The powertrain includes a 1.03-kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery capable of propelling the vehicle up to 62 mph under certain conditions without engine power. Production of the engine will take place at the Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan.
The Cherokee will ride on Stellantis’ STLA-Large unibody platform and come standard with a Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 system. The drivetrain includes Selec-Terrain traction management with four drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. Approach and departure angles are listed at 19.6 and 29.4 degrees, respectively, with 8 inches of ground clearance.
Inside, the 2026 Cherokee offers more interior space than the outgoing model, including a reported 30% increase in cargo capacity. Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Jeep’s Uconnect 5 system, rain-sensing wipers, and a suite of active safety features. Among these are automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, intersection collision assist, and Active Driving Assist, a Level 2 driver-assistance system.
Pricing for the 2026 Jeep Cherokee starts at $36,995, including a $1,995 destination charge. The Limited trim begins at $42,495, while the Overland starts at $45,995. The Cherokee and Laredo entry-level trims will be available in early 2026. Production will take place at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
