The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee introduces a new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo engine as part of its updated powertrain lineup. The new four-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque and uses Turbulent Jet Ignition technology to improve efficiency and combustion. It provides an estimated 506-mile driving range and a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds. The engine will be assembled at Stellantis’ Dundee, Michigan, plant.
The Grand Cherokee lineup continues to include three configurations: the two-row Grand Cherokee, the three-row Grand Cherokee L, and the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid. The brand has streamlined the trim structure for 2026, offering Laredo, Limited, and Summit models.
4xe plug-in hybrid option
The Grand Cherokee 4xe continues as Jeep’s plug-in hybrid SUV offering. It uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid system produces a combined output of 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is supplied by a 17.3-kWh lithium-ion battery that supports Level 1 (120V) and Level 2 (240V) charging, with a maximum charging rate of 7.2 kW. The 4xe models retain four-wheel-drive capability with a two-speed transfer case and low-range gearing.
Available 4xe trims include Limited, Summit, and Trailhawk. The Trailhawk 4xe offers the highest level of off-road performance in the lineup, featuring greater ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles, and the highest standard torque of any Grand Cherokee variant. It also provides a total driving range of up to 470 miles. The 4xe maintains a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds.
Interior and technology updates
The 2026 Grand Cherokee adds a new 12.3-inch infotainment display with updated graphics and interface design. Available features include a 10.25-inch passenger display, a McIntosh 19-speaker audio system, and Active Driving Assist. The vehicle’s cabin includes updated materials and finishes depending on trim level, such as Palermo leather and Oak or Liquid Chrome interior accents on the Summit models.
Exterior updates and colors
Exterior revisions include an updated seven-slot grille, new headlight and taillight designs, and revised front and rear fascias. New paint options for 2026 include Steel Blue, Copper Shino, and Fathom Blue. Wheel sizes range from 18 to 21 inches, depending on trim level and configuration.
Trim lineup
The Laredo trim continues with the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine and available Selec-Terrain four-wheel-drive system. The Limited trim adds more interior amenities, while the Summit serves as the top model, offering standard Quadra-Trac II 4×4, air suspension, and premium interior finishes. Each trim includes more standard safety features such as Traffic Sign Recognition, Intersection Collision Assist, and Blind-Spot Monitoring.
Production and availability
Production of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee will take place at Stellantis’ Detroit Assembly Complex, including both the Jefferson and Mack plants. The vehicle is expected to reach dealerships in late 2025. The Grand Cherokee remains one of Jeep’s top-selling models in the U.S., with the 4xe continuing as one of the most popular plug-in hybrid SUVs on the market.
