Toyota has unveiled the sixth-generation RAV4, which will be sold exclusively as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The 2026 model adopts new styling themes, updated electrified powertrains, and a broader range of grades, including a first-ever GR Sport version. The redesigned model will begin arriving at U.S. dealerships later in 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
The 2026 RAV4 will be offered in three distinct styling categories—Core, Rugged, and Sport—spanning seven trims: LE, XLE, Limited, SE, XSE, Woodland, and GR Sport. Core models include LE, XLE, and Limited, while the Woodland grade receives its own Rugged design. SE, XSE, and GR Sport make up the Sport category. The Woodland and GR Sport grades are new to the plug-in hybrid lineup.
All 2026 RAV4 models will feature either a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. The hybrid system has been upgraded to Toyota’s fifth-generation technology, offering 236 horsepower in AWD form and 226 horsepower in FWD models. This marks the first time FWD is available on RAV4 Hybrid models. The plug-in hybrid system is also new, delivering up to 320 horsepower and an estimated all-electric range of 50 miles, up from 42 miles previously.
The RAV4 PHEV expands to four available grades—SE, XSE, Woodland, and GR Sport—all of which include standard all-wheel drive. XSE and Woodland PHEV grades support DC fast charging using a CCS port, while SE and GR Sport use a J1772 connector. An onboard 11-kW AC charger will be available for Level 1 and Level 2 charging.
New technologies debut on the 2026 RAV4, including Toyota’s Arene software platform. Arene powers the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system and the updated Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite. All models receive a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while infotainment touchscreens range from 10.5 inches on lower grades to 12.9 inches on higher trims. A Head-Up Display is offered on select models.
Interior materials and features vary by trim, with SofTex and microsuede upholstery options and available heated and ventilated front seats. Unique interior and exterior design elements are included on models like the off-road-focused Woodland and the sport-oriented GR Sport, which was developed with input from Toyota GAZOO Racing.
Exterior updates include a new interpretation of Toyota’s hammerhead front-end design and new color choices such as Urban Rock, Everest, Meteor Shower, and Storm Cloud. Two-tone paint combinations will continue to be offered.
Depending on the configuration, the 2026 RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 pounds in select AWD models, while FWD and lower-trim AWD versions are rated at 1,750 pounds. All models ride on the TNGA-K platform with structural reinforcements aimed at improving ride comfort and handling.
The 2026 RAV4 includes Toyota’s standard 36-month/36,000-mile new vehicle warranty. Hybrid-related components are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, and the hybrid battery is warranted for 10 years or 150,000 miles. ToyotaCare is also included for two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, along with two years of unlimited-mileage roadside assistance.
