Volvo Cars has announced that the 2026 EX90 will feature an upgraded dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer, delivering 500 trillion operations per second of computing capacity. This upgrade enables expanded safety, collision avoidance, and driver assistance functions.
The company will also provide a one-time free upgrade of the core computer to owners of the 2025 EX90 through a scheduled service visit. The additional computing power is intended to support enhancements in safety and overall performance, as well as improvements to infotainment and battery management systems through over-the-air updates.
The 2026 EX90 introduces an 800-volt electric system designed to reduce heat during charging and improve efficiency. Under testing at 350 kW charging stations, Volvo reports the system can add up to 155 miles of driving range in about 10 minutes. The higher-voltage system also reduces material use in batteries and motors, lowering overall vehicle weight.
Additional features include connected safety alerts for road hazards, Emergency Stop Assist with integrated automatic emergency call functionality, expanded emergency steering in low-light conditions, and Park Pilot assist for parallel parking. The EX90 will also be offered with an electrochromic panoramic roof, first seen on the ES90, which allows the glass transparency to be adjusted for glare reduction or privacy.
