Porsche has detailed the 2027 model-year update for the Taycan, with the most consequential changes in three areas. A new E-Shift option adds simulated gear changes and a virtual rev counter to all Taycan variants. A native North American Charging Standard, or NACS, port replaces the previous Combined Charging System DC port on most US-market trims. And a Porsche-developed infotainment update, called Porsche Digital Interaction, brings a new operating system and over-the-air software updates to the lineup. Pricing for the 2027 Taycan starts at $114,250, including a $2,350 destination charge, for the rear-wheel-drive base model. Order books are open now, with deliveries scheduled to begin in fall 2026.
For US Porsche customers, the update is significant in part because it brings the Taycan into closer alignment with the broader electric vehicle market, while preserving and even emphasizing the traditional driving-engagement values the brand has historically pitched to its buyers. The combination of native NACS charging, simulated gearshifts, and a new in-cabin user experience covers most of the criticism the original Taycan attracted over its first five years on sale.
E-Shift: Simulated gears and a virtual rev counter

The headline mechanical addition is what Porsche calls E-Shift, a new option that adds simulated gear shifts and a redesigned Porsche Electric Sport Sound across all Taycan variants. With E-Shift enabled, the driver can select between automatic and manual modes. In manual mode, eight simulated gears can be shifted using paddles on the GT Sport steering wheel, with each gear modeled to feel like a discrete shift, including gear-specific drag torque that approximates engine braking and a virtual rev limiter. The interior and exterior sound of the Porsche Electric Sport Sound shifts with load and wheel speed, and Porsche has tuned the audio profile differently for each Taycan derivative.

The system is available as an option on all Taycan models and is standard on the Taycan Turbo GT. The driver activates it via an additional mode switch on the GT Sport steering wheel and can deactivate it entirely if preferred. Porsche is not the first major automaker to ship simulated gearshifts on an electric performance car. Hyundai introduced a similar e-Shift system on the Ioniq 5 N, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has been campaigned at Pikes Peak and elsewhere in part on the strength of that engagement-focused feature set. Porsche’s implementation arrives later, but it brings the technology into a higher-priced and longer-established performance segment.

Buyers ordering the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package can also opt for the Manthey Kit, which combines revised aerodynamics, a new wheel-and-tire package, larger front brakes, and updated suspension and powertrain calibration. Porsche says a Taycan Turbo GT with the Manthey Kit recently set a production electric vehicle lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes, 55.553 seconds.
NACS charging arrives for most variants
The 2027 Taycan moves to a native NACS DC fast-charging port on the passenger-side fender, replacing the CCS port that has been standard on the US-market Taycan since launch. The driver-side fender continues to use the SAE J1772 port for AC charging. Porsche will provide a CCS adapter for owners who need to use legacy CCS DC fast chargers, although the native NACS connection gives Taycan drivers direct access to the Tesla Supercharger network without an adapter for the first time.
The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package is the only variant that does not adopt the native NACS port for 2027. Porsche has not detailed the engineering reason, although the Weissach Package is positioned as the track-focused configuration, and the change may relate to how charging hardware integrates with the package’s lightweight bodywork. The NACS move follows similar adoption decisions across the Volkswagen Group, including the decision to grant Volkswagen EV owners access to the Tesla Supercharger network starting in late 2025.
The larger Performance Battery Plus, with 105 kWh of usable energy, is now standard on the Taycan, Taycan 4, and Taycan 4S. The pack supports a peak DC fast-charging rate of 320 kW at compatible 800-volt stations, and the car now includes a battery state-of-health display that lets owners track the battery’s condition over time.
Porsche Digital Interaction and a new infotainment system

The second major piece of the 2027 update is the rollout of Porsche’s new Porsche Digital Interaction infotainment system to the Taycan. The system debuted on the Macan Electric and the new Cayenne Electric, which expanded Porsche’s electric SUV range for 2026, and is now arriving across the Taycan range. The underlying Porsche Communication Management hardware has been upgraded with up to five times the computing power of the previous unit, which Porsche says enables faster response times, smoother menu navigation, and improved overall system performance.
The interface has been redrawn around what Porsche describes as a minimalist look with clear graphic structures and dynamic animations. The Porsche Car App is the central organizing layer, with a high-quality 3D model of the customer’s vehicle rendered in the actual paint color. Widgets, similar to those on a modern smartphone, allow drivers to pin quick-access controls for navigation, media, and telephone functions. A Themes app supports customization of the digital environment with color schemes that can be coordinated with the cabin’s ambient lighting.

A new App Center allows Porsche and third-party developers to publish applications that owners can install directly from the head unit, with categories including audio and video streaming, navigation, parking, and charging. Voice control has also been overhauled, with what Porsche calls AI-supported Voice Pilot. The system supports natural conversation, follow-up questions without repeating the wake word, and Google-powered point-of-interest search. The electric charging flap can also be opened via voice command. Over-the-air updates for the infotainment system are supported for the first time on the Taycan, and a new smartphone tray with magnetic ring mounting supports 25-watt wireless charging, which Porsche says fills a phone about 1.5 times faster than the previous tray.
Paint, color, and pricing

The Paint to Sample program for the Taycan has been updated with 16 new colors, bringing the total number of colors in the catalog to 153. Returning shades include Shark Blue and Python Green, both of which have featured in earlier Porsche product lines, while new additions include Loretta Purple and Rose Red.
The 2027 Taycan rear-wheel-drive base model is priced at $114,250, including a $2,350 destination charge. Porsche has not yet detailed pricing for the Taycan 4, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, Taycan Turbo S, and Taycan Turbo GT, though those figures are expected when order books open. Pricing is exclusive of taxes, title, registration, and any optional or regionally required equipment, as well as dealer charges.
For Taycan buyers, the 2027 update closes most of the gaps that had emerged over the model’s first five years on sale, particularly around in-cabin software, charging compatibility, and the emotional engagement that legacy combustion-engine Porsche customers have historically valued. The cars are available to order now, with the first US customer deliveries scheduled for fall 2026.
