Audi has informed its U.S. dealer network that vehicles arriving at American ports on or after April 2, 2025, will be held and not released until further notice. The directive comes in response to a 25% tariff now impacting certain imported vehicles.
A spokesperson for Volkswagen Group’s Audi division confirmed the existence of the dealer memo, which outlines the temporary hold. The memo does not apply to vehicles that arrived before April 2, which are unaffected and will proceed through standard distribution channels.
The move suggests a broader industry response to shifting trade policies and increased import duties, though Audi has not provided additional details on how long the hold will remain in effect or how many vehicles may be impacted.
More information is expected as the company and U.S. government clarify the tariff’s scope and implementation timeline.
