Acura has announced that its next-generation electric vehicle (EV) will revive the RSX nameplate. The all-electric RSX will be based on the Acura Performance EV Concept and represents the first model to utilize Honda’s new EV platform and the proprietary ASIMO OS operating system, which debuted at CES 2025. Production of the RSX will take place at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio, scheduled to begin later this year.
The RSX prototype will undergo real-world road testing, wrapped in a camouflage design by the Acura global design team. The design highlights the vehicle’s coupe-like silhouette and sophisticated styling, aligning with Acura’s branding. The model is expected to enhance Acura’s presence in the electric vehicle market while complementing its existing lineup of internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid models.
The Honda EV Hub, located in Ohio, is integral to Honda’s strategy to transition toward electrification. The facility has been retooled to produce ICE, hybrid, and EV models on the same production lines. This includes the installation of high-pressure die-casting machines for manufacturing Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) cases, which house the battery and serve as part of the vehicle platform.
Acura emphasizes that the RSX marks a significant step in its electrification journey while maintaining a focus on performance and design.
