Alexander Skarsgård stars in new Polestar 5 introduction film

Polestar has released a new short film introducing the Polestar 5, a four-door electric Grand Tourer derived from the 2020 Precept concept. The film features actor Alexander Skarsgård and was produced by Polestar’s internal creative team. It presents the design and technology of the company’s latest flagship model in a minimalist, cinematic setting.

The Polestar 5 represents the production realization of the Precept concept, which outlined the brand’s direction for design, technology, and sustainability. Built on the Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA), the vehicle uses bonded aluminum construction to achieve high torsional rigidity while maintaining a lower weight than steel structures. The architecture supports dual electric motors, including an in-house developed rear unit, providing a total system output of 650 kilowatts (884 horsepower) and 1,015 newton-meters (749 pound-feet) of torque. The car uses an 800-volt electrical system and is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds.

Polestar states that the chassis includes a compact double wishbone front suspension and MagneRide adaptive dampers capable of adjusting 1,000 times per second. The Polestar 5 incorporates sustainability measures such as extensive use of recycled and renewable materials. Approximately 83 percent of the aluminum used in its construction comes from smelters powered by renewable electricity, while 13 percent is recycled aluminum. The interior includes natural fiber composite materials developed by Bcomp, which Polestar says reduce weight by 40 percent and use 50 percent less fossil-fuel-based material compared to traditional plastics.

The short film featuring Skarsgård introduces these design and engineering elements, highlighting the Polestar 5 as a representation of the brand’s electric performance ambitions.
