BMW has introduced the Vision Neue Klasse X, a concept vehicle that previews a new generation of fully electric Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) expected to enter production in 2025. As part of BMW’s Neue Klasse, this concept vehicle represents the company’s future focus on aesthetics, technology, sustainability, and automotive philosophy, emphasizing a transition to fully electric, digital, and circular design principles. The Vision Neue Klasse X, alongside its sedan counterpart unveiled at IAA 2023, highlights BMW’s strategy to diversify its model lineup in response to changing customer preferences.

The Vision Neue Klasse X combines dynamic performance with efficiency, featuring a design that emphasizes spacious interiors and a modern, digital user experience. Its exterior design is characterized by a simplified and streamlined approach, while the interior is designed to be bright and open, enhanced by advanced lighting and sound effects facilitated by the next-generation BMW iDrive system. The vehicle integrates new drive and chassis control technologies developed in-house, aimed at improving driving dynamics, precision, and efficiency.

Sustainability is a key aspect of the Vision Neue Klasse X, with BMW planning for responsible production, operations, disassembly, and recycling. The concept utilizes innovative materials, including plant-based, mineral-based, and petroleum-free surfaces, as well as recycled mono-materials to enhance recyclability. BMW also incorporates maritime plastics, sourced from discarded fishing nets, in some components.

The Vision Neue Klasse X introduces BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which promises more efficient electric drive units, improved battery technology, and better aerodynamics, resulting in up to 30 percent increased range and faster charging times. This development is part of BMW’s broader goal to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.

The vehicle will be manufactured at BMW’s Plant Debrecen in Hungary, which is designed to operate entirely on fossil-free energy. This facility and the Vision Neue Klasse X signify a significant step in BMW’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in its future vehicle offerings.
