BMW has unveiled the all-new iX3, the first production model based on the automaker’s Neue Klasse platform. The fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) represents a significant shift in BMW’s approach to design, technology, and electrification. U.S. production of the iX3 is scheduled to begin at BMW Group’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary, during the first quarter of 2026, with U.S. deliveries expected to start in mid-2026.
The iX3 will launch initially as the iX3 50 xDrive, featuring dual-motor all-wheel drive and a combined output of 463 horsepower. Preliminary estimates indicate a driving range of up to 400 miles based on BMW’s internal testing aligned with EPA procedures. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is estimated at 4.7 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph.
The sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology introduces a new cylindrical-cell lithium-ion battery, operating on an 800-volt architecture. The system supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, allowing approximately 230 miles of range to be added in about 10 minutes under optimal conditions. Charging from 10 to 80 percent capacity is estimated to take around 21 minutes. A bi-directional charging system enables Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality. The iX3 will come standard with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port while retaining compatibility with the Combined Charging System (CCS) via an included adapter.
Inside, the iX3 features a redesigned cabin with a focus on digital integration and driver customization. A key highlight is the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, which combines a 17.9-inch central display, BMW Panoramic Vision head-up projection, and an optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display. The infotainment platform is powered by BMW Operating System X, offering personalization options, app integration, and over-the-air software updates.
The vehicle’s electronics architecture is supported by four high-performance computing units referred to as “superbrains.” These manage driving dynamics, automated driving functions, infotainment, and comfort features. New driver-assistance technologies are available, including Highway Assistant with hands-free driving on select highways up to 85 mph, Active Lane Change with eye activation, and Parking Assistant Plus for automated parking.
BMW will also offer an optional M Sport package and M Sport Professional package, featuring unique exterior elements, upgraded wheels, and interior enhancements. Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, a panoramic moonroof, wireless device charging, and a Harman Kardon audio system on higher trims.
The new iX3 is part of BMW’s broader strategy to transition toward electrification and digital integration. The company plans to integrate Neue Klasse technologies across nearly 40 new models and updates by 2027. Pricing for the iX3 50 xDrive is expected to start around $60,000, though final U.S. pricing and trim details will be announced closer to launch.
