Buick has revealed the Electra GS concept vehicle, which it describes as a preview of the brand’s approach to electric vehicle design. The concept was developed by the GM China Advanced Design Center and reflects design influences intended to appeal to a global audience.

The Electra GS concept measures 5,300 mm in length with a 3,200 mm wheelbase. It features a low profile and wide stance, supported by 23-inch wheels and a wide body. Exterior design elements include a front fascia with concealed lighting signatures, sharply contoured surfaces, and geometric patterns. The design language is described by the company as “Kinetic Sculpture,” with inspiration drawn from the centaur figure in mythology. Buick states this design language intends to convey a mix of power and intelligence.

The sides of the vehicle incorporate aerodynamic rocker panels and a rising beltline, while the rear includes roof rails that transition into sculptural buttresses and a glass roof that integrates with an aerodynamic spoiler.

The interior uses a flat-floor layout enabled by GM’s electric vehicle platform. The cabin includes four individual seats with metallic and leather materials. A 16.3-inch ultra-wide display provides infotainment and connectivity features, while an augmented reality head-up display is positioned for the driver. Additional interior elements include woven fabrics and metal finishes.

Buick says the Electra GS concept represents part of its broader transition toward electric vehicles. According to Stuart Norris, Chief Design Officer at SAIC-GM and Vice President of GM China Design, the concept expresses the brand’s future intentions in electric mobility through design and technology.

The concept vehicle is a product of Buick’s efforts to redefine its identity in the electric vehicle segment, with contributions from younger designers working at GM’s Shanghai-based studio.
