Chevrolet has introduced the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the Mint 400, an off-road race in which the truck will also compete. The vehicle is part of the Hall Racing team’s lineup and will be driven by Chad Hall in the Open Production EV class. It joins the team’s existing Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race trucks.
According to Chevrolet, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept consists of 98% GM production parts and is designed to handle the challenges of off-road racing. The truck follows the ZR2 formula found in other Chevrolet off-road models, incorporating a lifted suspension, off-road tuning, Multimatic damper technology, locking differentials, and underbody skid protection. The vehicle was developed in five months and features prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers, which provide continuous adaptability and over 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel.
The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck is equipped with 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires and a tri-motor electric propulsion system. The system produces 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet engineers will work with the Hall Racing team to monitor the truck’s performance, durability, and capability throughout the competition. Information gathered from the race will contribute to future production vehicles, performance parts, and accessories.
Chevrolet currently offers more than 44 off-road performance parts and accessories for production trucks. Chad Hall, the team’s primary driver, stated that lessons learned from racing are applied to consumer vehicles. Hall Racing has competed with Chevrolet since 2017, primarily with the Colorado ZR2, and has completed 53 out of 54 races entered.
The unveiling of the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept coincides with Chevrolet’s upcoming release of the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss. This variant is the brand’s first off-road-focused Silverado EV, featuring a factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, red tow hooks, and a new Terrain Mode for maneuverability. Additional details about the Silverado EV Trail Boss are expected in the future.
