Ford has officially revealed the production date for its highly anticipated all-electric F-150 pickup truck, confirming that manufacturing will commence at the historic Rouge facility in mid-2022. This announcement marks a significant milestone for Ford as it continues to expand its lineup of electric vehicles (EVs) and transition its most popular models to electric powertrains.

The all-electric F-150, which is expected to be a key player in the growing market for electric trucks, will be produced at the newly constructed Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, located within the broader Rouge complex in Dearborn, Michigan. This facility, which has been at the heart of Ford’s manufacturing operations for over a century, has been retooled and modernized to accommodate the production of electric vehicles, reflecting Ford’s commitment to investing in the future of mobility.

The electric F-150 is designed to offer the same toughness, capability, and reliability that have made the F-Series the best-selling truck in the United States for decades. However, it will also incorporate the benefits of an electric powertrain, including instant torque, reduced maintenance costs, and zero emissions. Ford has indicated that the electric F-150 will be available with innovative features tailored to meet the needs of both commercial and personal use, although specific details about the truck’s range, performance, and pricing have yet to be disclosed.

The decision to produce the electric F-150 at the Rouge facility underscores Ford’s dedication to maintaining its manufacturing heritage while embracing new technologies. The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center represents a $700 million investment in the future of Ford’s electric vehicle production, creating new jobs and ensuring that the company remains a leader in the evolving automotive landscape.

As the mid-2022 production date approaches, anticipation continues to build around the electric F-150, which is expected to play a critical role in Ford’s electrification strategy. The vehicle will join the Mustang Mach-E and the upcoming electric Transit van as part of Ford’s expanding EV portfolio, positioning the company to compete in the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
