The 2024 Ford E-Transit with Enhanced Range is now available to customers across North America. As an updated version of the popular electric van, the E-Transit offers new features aimed at expanding its usability across a broader range of industries. Among the most notable upgrades is an increased range of up to 159 miles on a single charge, representing an improvement of up to 32% over previous models. This extended range is expected to support additional applications such as refrigerated delivery, which requires more consistent and reliable energy usage.
The van’s enhanced range comes from an 89 kWh usable battery, designed to support long-distance work and demanding industry tasks. In addition to the battery upgrade, the vehicle now offers faster charging capabilities, due to the inclusion of dual onboard chargers. Ford states that these new chargers will reduce charging times by up to 22% when used with the company’s 80A Series 2 charger. To assist fleet owners, the Ford Pro charging software is available to help schedule charging during optimal times, aiming to improve efficiency.
Another selling point of the 2024 E-Transit is its potential for reducing the total cost of ownership for fleet operators. Ford highlights that the van has been recognized as the Best Fleet Value in America for three consecutive years by Vincentric, largely due to its lower fuel, maintenance, and operating costs compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles.
The environmental impact of the E-Transit has also been significant, with Ford reporting that the vehicle has helped save over 3 million gallons of gasoline and reduced CO2 emissions by more than 25 million kilograms. According to the company, these emissions reductions are equivalent to planting over 413,000 tree seedlings and allowing them to grow for a decade.
