Ferrari has unveiled the 849 Testarossa, a new plug-in hybrid berlinetta that replaces the SF90 Stradale in the company’s lineup. The vehicle was presented to international media and clients on September 9, 2025, in Milan. The car combines a revised 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three electric motors, producing a total output of 1,036 horsepower (1,050 cv), an increase of about 66 hp compared to the outgoing SF90 Stradale.
The internal combustion engine produces 819 horsepower (830 cv) and has been extensively re-engineered with a new turbocharger, cylinder heads, exhaust system, and other components to improve performance without adding weight. The hybrid system consists of a rear-mounted electric motor and two units on the front axle, contributing 217 hp (220 cv) while enabling all-wheel drive and torque vectoring. A 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery provides up to 15.5 miles of electric-only driving in eDrive mode.
Ferrari has redesigned the aerodynamics of the 849 Testarossa to improve downforce and cooling efficiency. At 155 mph (250 km/h), the car generates 915 pounds of downforce (415 kg), which is about 55 pounds more than the SF90 Stradale, while achieving a 15% increase in cooling performance. The exterior design incorporates geometric elements inspired by 1970s Ferrari sports prototypes and includes a twin-tail rear layout integrated with an active spoiler for optimized airflow.
Inside, the cockpit features a redesigned central tunnel, updated steering wheel controls, a revised human-machine interface, and an improved seating layout. The interior emphasizes ergonomics and functionality while incorporating materials such as Alcantara and carbon fiber. The car is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features wireless smartphone charging and Ferrari’s MyFerrari Connect app for remote vehicle monitoring.
The Assetto Fiorano package is available as an optional upgrade, reducing overall weight by about 66 pounds (30 kg) through the use of carbon fiber, titanium components, and lightweight seats. It also introduces aerodynamic enhancements, Multimatic shock absorbers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires, and an exclusive two-tone livery option.
The 849 Testarossa supports four driving modes — eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify — controlled via Ferrari’s eManettino selector. The vehicle features ABS Evo, the Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator (FIVE) system for enhanced driving dynamics, and revised suspension geometry. These updates improve handling, braking precision, and overall stability.
Ferrari offers a seven-year maintenance program for the 849 Testarossa, which includes scheduled services, original parts, and diagnostics performed by technicians trained at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello. Additional warranty programs are available, including extended coverage for hybrid system components and high-voltage battery replacement options for up to 16 years of ownership.
