Ford Transit is celebrating its 10th anniversary of production in the United States, having assembled over 1.2 million Transit vans since its launch. Remarkably, 99% of these vehicles remain operational, highlighting their durability and reliability. Tim Baughman, general manager of Ford Pro, credits the Transit van’s success to its robustness and adaptability, which have made it a key asset for businesses in various industries.

In response to the evolving demands of the commercial vehicle market, Ford has introduced significant upgrades to the E-Transit, the electric version of the Transit van. Since its launch in 2022, the E-Transit has become the best-selling electric van in America. The 2024 E-Transit model features an increased estimated range of 159 miles for low-roof cargo van models—a 26% improvement over previous models—and a 32% increase for high-roof models. These enhancements are designed to support longer-distance work and enable new applications, such as refrigerated delivery.

The 2024 E-Transit also benefits from improved charging capabilities. The introduction of dual onboard chargers allows for faster charging, with a peak power of 176 kilowatts representing a 49% increase in charging efficiency compared to the previous model. This improvement means that a 15-minute charge on a DC fast charger can add 67 miles of range, and the vehicle can charge from zero to 100% in just over six hours with the Ford Pro Series 2 80A charging station, offering a 22% reduction in charging time compared to its predecessor.

Ford Pro is expanding its range of productivity solutions, including the largest mobile service fleet among U.S. automakers, new Series 2 charger options, and home charging software. These initiatives aim to enhance fleet uptime and reduce operating costs for commercial customers.

These advancements in the E-Transit and the introduction of new charging and software solutions underscore Ford’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and providing comprehensive solutions for the commercial vehicle sector.
