Ford is introducing the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special, a new appearance package that brings a heritage-inspired design to its electric crossover. The package builds on the Mustang GT trim level and applies cues from the original California Special first offered in 1968.
The California Special name originated in the 1960s as a dealer-driven initiative in California, where retailers collaborated with Ford to create a unique trim package for the Mustang coupe. That original edition featured red and black accents and aerodynamic changes, with just over 4,000 examples produced. Ford is now reinterpreting that concept for the electric Mustang Mach-E as part of a broader design update.
The latest California Special package introduces a new color called Rave Blue, developed to reflect the California coastline with tones that shift from light to dark and occasionally into violet. This color is used across exterior and interior elements of both the 2026 Mustang Mach-E and the Mustang two-door coupe but with variations to differentiate the two vehicles. Rave Blue accents appear on wheels, grille details, badges, and interior trim, and the updated “California Special” wordmark adopts a modern block-style font instead of the original 1960s script.
Specific design features for the Mach-E GT California Special include 20-inch carbonized gray wheels with a printed GT/CS logo and gloss black aero covers, an illuminated Rave Blue pony emblem on the grille, and a hood graphic with layered gray, black, and blue lines representing a sunset over the ocean. Inside, performance seats are upholstered in Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko materials with reflective blue and silver stripes, and the center console, steering wheel, and floor mats feature matching materials and stitching.
Built on the GT series, the Mach-E California Special delivers an EPA-estimated 280 miles of range, 480 horsepower, and up to 700 lb-ft of torque. The package was influenced by feedback from Mustang owners and observations from the aftermarket customization culture, including vehicles shown at the SEMA Show. Ford designers cited these sources as inspiration for the Rave Blue accents and other personalization elements.
The California Special package adds $2,495 to the Mustang Mach-E GT’s base price of $53,395. The 2026 Mustang Mach-E lineup starts at $37,795, including destination charges. Orders open on October 22, and vehicles are expected to arrive at dealerships in the first quarter of 2026.
