Ford has introduced a new incentive program for electric vehicle buyers in the UK called the Ford Power Promise. The initiative is aimed at addressing concerns identified in a recent survey of 5,000 European drivers, where a significant number reported challenges with electric vehicle ownership. The survey found that 25 percent of respondents expressed uncertainty and complexity in purchasing an EV, one in eight reported difficulty arranging home charging, a third were concerned with charging times, and over 30 percent had concerns about battery life.
To address these concerns, Ford Power Promise offers a package of services and benefits to new EV buyers. This includes a complimentary home electric vehicle charger with free standard installation. Buyers also receive a home energy credit equivalent to up to 10,000 miles of driving. Ford includes an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on high voltage components and batteries. Additionally, a five-year service plan and five-year roadside towing assistance are provided at no cost. Customers also receive access to more than 33,000 public charging points across the UK via the Ford BlueOval Charge Network, with integrated payment functionality through the FordPass app.
Ford has extended its partnership with Octopus Energy to support the offer. Buyers enrolled in the program can access the ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ smart energy tariff, which allows overnight EV charging at a rate of 7p per kilowatt-hour. According to Ford, this can reduce energy costs by up to 70 percent when compared to standard price cap rates. The smart tariff is designed to optimize charging during off-peak times or when renewable energy sources are most active. Ford states that a full charge of the Puma Gen-E can cost as little as £3.23 on this plan.
The Ford Power Promise is available across Ford’s full lineup of electric passenger vehicles. These include the all-electric Explorer, Capri, Puma Gen-E, Mustang Mach-E, E-Tourneo Custom, and E-Tourneo Courier. Customers who do not wish to receive the charger and energy credit can opt for a £500 cash alternative.
A separate offer remains in place for Ford Pro commercial vehicle customers. This includes a £10 home charger deal for buyers of the E-Transit and E-Transit Custom. The offer covers standard installation, a five-year hardware warranty, and one year of access to Ford Pro home charging software.
