Ford Performance will participate in the 103rd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 22, 2025, with a new electric vehicle demonstrator called the Super Mustang Mach-E. The vehicle will be driven by Romain Dumas, the current overall record holder for the hill climb. This marks his third entry with Ford and his tenth overall at the event.
The Super Mustang Mach-E was developed in collaboration with STARD Advanced Research and Development. It is designed for the 12.42-mile, 156-turn course that ascends to 14,115 feet. According to Ford, this year’s entry has lower weight, improved weight distribution, and enhanced regenerative braking compared to the company’s 2024 entrant, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. The vehicle is powered by three STARD ultra-high-performance (UHP) 6-phase electric motors producing over 1,400 horsepower. It is equipped with a 50kWh battery using lithium-polymer nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) pouch cells and operates at 799 volts.
In addition to its powertrain, the demonstrator features a regenerative braking capacity of 710kW, carbon-carbon brakes, forged magnesium wheels, and Pirelli P-Zero tires. In its Pikes Peak configuration, it can generate up to 6,900 pounds of aerodynamic downforce at 150 mph.
The project is part of Ford’s continuing effort to test electric performance technology under extreme conditions. The company states that technologies tested at Pikes Peak contribute to the development of future electric production vehicles, including improvements in battery design, thermal management, and braking systems.
This is the third year in a row that Ford has entered an electric demonstrator in the hill climb. Previous entries included the 2023 SuperVan 4.2 and the 2024 F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, the latter of which won the event overall. The Super Mustang Mach-E continues Ford’s long-standing collaboration with STARD, which remains involved in the design of its powertrain, battery systems, and control strategies.
The vehicle will run under race number 310, referencing Dumas’ third appearance with Ford and his tenth overall at Pikes Peak. The event will be streamed live on YouTube.
