Genesis premiered two new design concepts, the X Gran Coupe Concept and the X Gran Convertible Concept, at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show held at Kintex in Goyang, Korea. Both vehicles are concept derivatives of Genesis’ G90 sedan and are intended to explore new design typologies for the brand.
The X Gran Coupe Concept uses a coupe architecture and features elongated proportions with design elements that include widened fenders, sculptural air intakes, and a roof integrated with the cant rail. It also includes design details inspired by Mediterranean olive trees, such as olive wood veneers, perforated for ambient lighting, and upholstery made from leather tanned using olive oil wastewater.
The X Gran Convertible Concept follows a similar design language but incorporates a soft-top roof and body styling inspired by the appearance of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Its color palette references the Livorno region of Italy. Interior elements include crystal details and a monochromatic theme to emphasize the grape-blue tone of the cabin.
Both concepts incorporate Genesis design cues such as Two-Line headlights and taillights, a Crest Grille with 3D mesh inspired by woven metal, and flush exterior elements, including retractable rear-view cameras. The designs also include integrated technology features, such as gesture-based trunk operation and embedded passenger displays.
Each model rides on uniquely designed wheels that complement the body style. The Gran Coupe has a five double-spoke design with layered treatments, while the Convertible showcases sculptural five-star wheels. In both, the wheel design is shaped to enhance the visual impact of the widened track.
Inside, the concepts feature bespoke materials, ambient lighting, and crystal finishes. The steering wheels incorporate patterned aluminum spokes that coordinate with the rotary controllers. The seats include integrated seat belts and ventilation systems.
The Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept and X Gran Convertible Concept will be on display at the Seoul Mobility Show from April 4 through April 13, 2025.
