General Motors has announced an integration between its electric vehicle mobile applications and the Electrify America public charging network aimed at simplifying how drivers locate, access, and pay for public fast charging. The integration adds Electrify America charging stations to GM’s myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac apps, allowing drivers to find and use compatible charging locations without relying on multiple third-party charging applications or separate accounts.
Electrify America operates one of the largest open electric vehicle charging networks in the United States, with more than 5,000 fast-charging locations equipped with Direct Current (DC) fast chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kW of power. Through the integration, GM vehicle owners can view station locations, check real-time charger availability, plan routes, and initiate charging sessions directly from their brand-specific mobile app. Payment for charging sessions can also be handled within the same app environment.
GM characterized the update as part of its broader efforts to reduce complexity around public charging for electric vehicle owners. Charging away from home often requires drivers to interact with different networks, each with its own app, account system, and payment process. By incorporating Electrify America’s network into its existing apps, GM is attempting to consolidate some of those functions into a single interface for its customers.

Electrify America was established in 2016 to build a nationwide public charging network in the United States. The company’s infrastructure includes hundreds of charging stations positioned along major travel corridors and within metropolitan areas. The network primarily supports the Combined Charging System (CCS) connector, which is used by many electric vehicles sold in North America, including current GM models.
GM’s electric vehicle lineup spans multiple brands and segments, including models from Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. The company has previously stated that its EV drivers can access hundreds of thousands of public charging points across North America through various partnerships and integrations. The Electrify America addition expands the list of networks that can be accessed directly through GM’s own software platforms.
The Electrify America network also supports Plug & Charge functionality, which allows compatible vehicles to authenticate and pay for charging automatically when connected to a supported charger. This technology relies on secure communication standards between the vehicle and the charging station, removing the need for manual payment steps. Plug & Charge capability has been gradually expanding across both vehicle manufacturers and charging networks as new vehicles and infrastructure are deployed.
The integration does not change ownership or operation of Electrify America’s charging infrastructure. Electrify America remains responsible for maintaining its stations, setting pricing, and managing availability. Charging sessions initiated through GM’s apps are still subject to Electrify America’s standard terms, conditions, and pricing, which can vary by location and region.
GM’s charging and energy initiatives are managed through its broader energy services organization, which includes public charging access, home charging solutions, and software tools designed to support electric vehicle ownership. The company has stated that improving access to reliable and convenient charging is an important part of supporting wider EV adoption as it expands its electric vehicle production.

The public charging landscape in the United States continues to evolve, with both private companies and government-supported programs contributing to the expansion of DC fast charging infrastructure. Automakers have increasingly partnered with charging network operators to improve customer access, streamline payment, and integrate charging tools directly into vehicle software and mobile applications.
Other automakers have announced similar efforts to simplify public charging, including the creation of open fast-charging networks or expanded app-based charging access for their customers. These developments reflect a broader industry focus on addressing charging usability and infrastructure availability as electric vehicle adoption grows.
GM’s integration with Electrify America represents an additional option for its EV customers rather than an exclusive arrangement. Electrify America continues to operate as an open network available to any compatible electric vehicle, regardless of manufacturer. GM drivers are not limited to Electrify America stations and can continue to use other public charging networks where available.
Overall, the Electrify America integration adds route planning, station visibility, and in-app payment features to GM’s existing mobile applications, expanding how drivers can interact with one of the largest public fast-charging networks in the country. GM positions the update as one element of its ongoing efforts to connect electric vehicle owners with an expanding public charging ecosystem.
