GMC has officially unveiled the 2022 Hummer EV, marking the iconic brand’s return as an all-electric supertruck. This highly anticipated vehicle redefines the Hummer legacy by combining extreme off-road capability with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technology, offering a powerful statement on the future of electric mobility.

The 2022 Hummer EV is the first fully electric vehicle from GMC, and it aims to set new standards in the electric truck market. With a design that stays true to the rugged and bold aesthetics of the original Hummer, this new iteration integrates advanced technologies and features that push the boundaries of what an electric vehicle can do.

At the heart of the Hummer EV is GM’s Ultium battery system, which powers a tri-motor setup delivering a staggering 1,000 horsepower and up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque. This immense power allows the Hummer EV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3 seconds, a feat made possible by the Watts to Freedom mode—a launch control feature designed to maximize acceleration.

One of the standout capabilities of the Hummer EV is its off-road prowess. The truck is equipped with features such as four-wheel steering, allowing it to navigate tight trails with ease, and the innovative CrabWalk mode, which lets the Hummer move diagonally by steering all four wheels in the same direction. This makes the vehicle particularly adept at handling challenging off-road situations where traditional vehicles might struggle.

The Hummer EV also boasts an adaptive air suspension system that can raise the vehicle by up to 6 inches for additional ground clearance, and the Extract Mode allows the truck to lift itself when it needs to overcome large obstacles. These features, combined with underbody armor and a host of off-road driving modes, ensure that the Hummer EV is ready for even the most extreme adventures.

Inside, the 2022 Hummer EV is equipped with a luxurious and high-tech cabin, featuring a 13.4-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch driver information display. The interior design emphasizes a blend of ruggedness and sophistication, with durable materials and modern touches throughout. The vehicle also includes the latest version of GM’s Super Cruise, an advanced driver assistance system that allows for hands-free driving on compatible highways, further enhancing the driving experience.

The 2022 Hummer EV will initially be available in the Edition 1 trim, which comes fully loaded with all available features and exclusive design elements. Priced at $112,595, the Edition 1 quickly sold out following its announcement, reflecting the high demand and anticipation for this groundbreaking vehicle. Additional trims with varying levels of equipment and pricing will be released in the coming years, providing more options for consumers.

The unveiling of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV represents a significant milestone for GM as it continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio. The Hummer EV is not only a revival of a beloved brand but also a bold statement about the potential of electric vehicles to combine sustainability with extreme capability and performance.
