Mercedes-Benz Vans USA has announced a new partnership with Goodr, a company focused on waste management and hunger solutions, and named Jasmine Crowe-Houston, founder and CEO of Goodr, as the first brand ambassador for the eSprinter van. This partnership is designed to leverage the capabilities of the electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter to further Goodr’s mission of fighting food waste and hunger through innovative technology.
As part of the collaboration, Goodr received the first refrigerated eSprinter Cargo Van in North America. This vehicle was custom fitted with a refrigeration system by Thermo King of Charleston, ensuring that perishable goods can be transported under optimal conditions. Goodr, which was founded in 2017, uses technology to rescue surplus food and deliver meals to underserved communities. In 2023, Goodr’s Surplus Food Recovery solution diverted over 1.3 million pounds of waste from landfills, preventing more than 714,000 pounds of carbon emissions.
Mercedes-Benz Vans USA is aligning this collaboration with its broader sustainability goals, as outlined in the company’s “Ambition 2039” strategy. The eSprinter van itself represents the company’s commitment to zero-emission vehicles, urban delivery solutions, and reducing CO2 emissions. The vehicle offers versatility in range, payload, and interior space, making it adaptable for various commercial uses.
Jasmine Crowe-Houston expressed her support for the partnership, noting that the eSprinter aligns with Goodr’s mission of serving communities in an efficient and sustainable manner. Goodr’s efforts aim to both reduce food waste and address food insecurity, while the partnership with Mercedes-Benz helps to minimize greenhouse gas emissions in the process.
Thermo King, which specializes in temperature-controlled transport solutions, played a key role in customizing the van for Goodr’s specific needs. This partnership is part of both companies’ commitment to sustainability in logistics and delivery solutions.
Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans USA, emphasized that the collaboration with Goodr and Thermo King showcases the eSprinter’s role in sustainable urban logistics, furthering Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to supporting small businesses with efficient and sustainable last-mile delivery solutions.
