GMC has released information about the 2026 Hummer EV Pickup and SUV models, which include new software-enabled features, a limited-edition variant, and changes to design and performance. Production of the 2026 models is scheduled to begin later this year at GM’s Factory Zero Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.
One of the main additions for 2026 is a new rear-steer function called King Crab mode. This feature builds on the vehicle’s existing four-wheel steering by enabling the rear wheels to turn at a faster rate than the front wheels. The system is designed to improve maneuverability in off-road situations. King Crab mode will be standard on 2X and 3X trims for both Pickup and SUV models. It will also become available to 2022 through 2025 Hummer EV owners via an over-the-air update later this year.
A new limited-production trim, the Carbon Fiber Edition, has also been announced. It will be available on the 3X Pickup and SUV configurations and will include a 24-module battery pack. GMC states the Pickup variant of this edition can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. The Carbon Fiber Edition will feature a matte gray exterior and a Velocity Ember interior design, along with exclusive elements such as 22-inch carbon fiber wheels, carbon fiber mirror caps and skid plate inserts, black emblems, and a black power tonneau cover on Pickup models.
The 2026 Hummer EV will also support bidirectional charging. This includes both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-home power transfer, with the latter requiring appropriate equipment to enable backup home energy use during outages.
Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology, is updated for 2026 models. It now includes Hands on Lane Change Assist, which allows for transitions between Super Cruise and non-Super Cruise roads. Another addition is Lane Change for Route, which enables the vehicle to automatically change lanes based on its navigation route.
The 24-module Hummer EV 3X Pickup will deliver a GM-estimated 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 lb-ft of torque. Additional updates to the suspension system include revised damper tuning aimed at improving ride quality.
Interior technology features include a 13.4-inch infotainment system with customizable split-screen capability. Google Built-In functionality allows access to entertainment and navigation apps, and OnStar connectivity supports EV routing and additional software features.
New design options for 2026 include two exterior paint colors—Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte—and two interior themes called Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse.
The 2026 Hummer EV Pickup and SUV will be available at GMC EV dealers later in the year. Pricing and range estimates will be announced closer to launch.
