Hyundai Motor Company introduced the Three, its first compact electric vehicle concept under the Ioniq sub-brand, at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. The vehicle signals Hyundai’s entry into the compact EV segment and supports the company’s broader electrification strategy for Europe.
The Three features Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, which incorporates sculptural forms inspired by the company’s steel technologies. The exterior includes an anodized-effect finish, lemon-tinted glass, matching wheels, and Parametric Pixel lighting on both the front and rear. The vehicle also adopts an Aero Hatch profile designed to improve aerodynamics and enhance urban practicality.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes customization and sustainability. Modular “Bring Your Own Lifestyle” widgets allow owners to personalize the in-car experience, while materials include ocean waste textiles, recycled plastics, and lightweight aluminum foam. Other highlights include a calm, furnished interior space, integrated interactive design elements, and a symbolic “Mr. Pix” character designed to create a unique visual theme.
Hyundai presented the Three alongside its current European EV lineup, including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 N, Ioniq 9, Inster, and Insteroid concepts. Visitors were able to test drive nine models during the event, including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, Ioniq 6, Ioniq 9, Inster, Inster Cross, Kona Electric, Tucson PHEV, and Santa Fe PHEV.
Europe remains a key market in Hyundai’s electrification plans. Approximately 80 percent of Hyundai vehicles sold in Europe are manufactured locally. The company plans to offer an electrified version of every model in Europe by 2027 and expects to introduce 21 EV models globally by 2030. Hyundai is also investing in hydrogen fuel cell technologies and transitioning its European production facilities to renewable energy sources.
IAA Mobility 2025 marks Hyundai’s return to the event after four years. The company’s booth, located in Munich’s city center, measures 58 meters wide (190 feet) and 7 meters tall (23 feet) and is inspired by the Parametric Pixel design element. Exhibits include a sculpture highlighting steel integration in vehicle design, a lounge chair inspired by the Three’s cabin, and the Hyundai AddGear modular accessory system.
The Three measures 4,287 mm (168.8 inches) in length, 1,940 mm (76.4 inches) in width, and 1,428 mm (56.2 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,722 mm (107.2 inches). The exterior is finished in Tungsten Gray, and the interior features Moonbeam Yellow accents.
Hyundai has not provided production or release details for the Three, and specifications remain subject to change.
