Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has introduced the Hyundai Creta Electric, marking the company’s first localized electric SUV. This new offering is designed to integrate electric mobility into the Indian market while expanding the existing Creta lineup. A promotional campaign titled “India is now Ready; Electric is now Creta” accompanied the launch, emphasizing the country’s readiness for electric vehicles and showcasing the SUV’s design and technology.
The Hyundai Creta Electric builds on the legacy of the Creta brand, which has over 1.1 million units sold in India. HMIL highlights this new model as a continuation of the Creta’s success, integrating features aimed at both urban and long-distance driving scenarios. The company aims to make electric vehicles more accessible and appealing to Indian customers.
The Hyundai Creta Electric adopts a modern design inspired by Hyundai’s global Pixel design language. Key elements include a pixelated front grille integrated with a charging port, LED tail lamps, and aerodynamic enhancements such as Active Air Flaps and Aero Alloy Wheels with low rolling resistance tires. These features aim to optimize performance and range efficiency while maintaining a distinctive appearance.
The SUV is offered with two battery options: a 51.4 kWh long-range variant capable of a 473 km range and a 42 kWh variant with a range of 390 km on a single charge. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds in the long-range version. Charging solutions include a DC fast charger, which charges the vehicle from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes, and an 11kW wall box charger that provides a full charge in four hours.
The Hyundai Creta Electric features various technological advancements to enhance the user experience. These include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology that allows external devices to be powered by the vehicle, i-Pedal Technology enabling one-pedal driving for convenience, a Shift-by-Wire System for intuitive gear control, and a Digital Key that allows the vehicle to be operated via smartphone or smartwatch.
The SUV will be available in four variants—Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence—and offers eight monotone and two dual-tone color options, including three matte finishes. A new ocean blue metallic color with a black roof is also part of the range.
Hyundai plans to support the transition to electric mobility in India by expanding the charging infrastructure and promoting localized EV solutions. The company aims to establish 600 public fast-charging stations within seven years and continues to offer EV-related services through its myHyundai app, which provides access to over 10,000 charging points across the country.
