Hyundai Motor America will take part in the 2025 Tire Rack One Lap of America presented by Grassroots Motorsports, which will be held from May 3 to May 10, 2025. Hyundai has also been designated as the official automaker for the 41st edition of the event.
In partnership with Grassroots Motorsports magazine, Hyundai will enter the event with a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The vehicle is a stock, all-electric SUV producing 601 horsepower and will be entered in the Alternative Fuels class. The team includes Andy Hollis and Tom Suddard, both experienced in the competition. Hollis has participated more than 14 times, achieving 10 class wins. This will be the first time either driver competes in an electric vehicle during the event.
Hyundai will also supply vehicles for event logistics and staff transport. These include three 2025 Palisade SUVs, two 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs, and a 2025 Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle.
Founded by automotive journalist Brock Yates, the One Lap of America is a long-distance, street-legal motorsports competition. The event combines timed racing segments at various venues—including road courses, drag strips, skid pads, and autocross tracks—with transit stages on public roads covering thousands of miles. In 2025, 86 teams are scheduled to participate in 17 scored events across an eight-day period. The list of tracks includes Virginia International Raceway and NCM Motorsports Park.
Event organizer Brock Yates Jr. stated that the vehicles used by support staff must be capable of handling extended travel and operational demands. He noted that Hyundai’s vehicles provide a suitable combination of space, comfort, and technology for such a role.
