Hyundai has recently introduced the hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of its 2025 Tucson SUV, emphasizing its dedication to eco-friendly automotive solutions. These models were unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, which also highlighted updates across the Tucson lineup. The hybrid and PHEV models are expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships by late summer, following the release of the 2.5L versions in June.

The 2025 Tucson hybrid and plug-in hybrid models continue Hyundai’s “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy, incorporating updates that give the SUV a more robust and grounded look. Notable design changes include a new grille, updated front and rear bumpers, and a modernized lighting signature. These revisions aim to enhance the vehicle’s market presence and improve functionality and visibility, with features such as new alloy wheels and an extended rear wiper blade.

Inside, the Tucson has been significantly upgraded to offer a more spacious and technologically advanced environment. A prominent feature is the panoramic curved display that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a similarly sized infotainment display. This setup, along with a redesigned center stack and additional controls, aims to enhance the driving experience by providing easier access to frequently used functions. The hybrid models also include a column-mounted gear selector for the shift-by-wire system, optimizing interior space.

The 2025 Tucson hybrid and PHEV models come with several new technology features. These include over-the-air (OTA) updates for various vehicle systems, standard wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® integration, and a new 12-inch color Head-Up Display (HUD) with premium graphics. Enhanced safety features such as Forward Attention Warning (FAW) and Smart Cruise Control are also included, designed to monitor and support driver attention and safety.

Both hybrid and PHEV variants are powered by a 1.6-liter direct-injected turbocharged engine, paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The hybrid model has a total system output of 231 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid offers 268 horsepower, providing a balance of performance and efficiency. Adjustable regenerative braking allows drivers to customize the vehicle’s energy recovery.

These models feature standard HTRAC® all-wheel drive to handle various driving conditions effectively. They also include additional drive modes, such as a new “Green Zone” mode, which optimizes the vehicle’s performance for eco-focused urban environments.

In summary, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid and plug-in hybrid models mark a significant advancement in Hyundai’s eco-friendly vehicle offerings. With comprehensive design updates, advanced technology features, and improved powertrain efficiency, these models are aimed at consumers seeking a capable and versatile SUV with a focus on environmental sustainability.
