Icon 4×4 has introduced its first electric vehicle based on a vintage Ford Bronco. Developed in collaboration with Moment Motor Company over an 18-month period totaling more than 5,000 hours, the Icon EV Bronco combines classic styling with an electric drivetrain and modern technology.
The company previously held off on electric vehicle conversions, citing insufficient technology. According to Icon, the current level of EV engineering and OEM-grade integration now meets its internal standards. The Icon EV Bronco is powered by an all-wheel-drive system with over 500 horsepower and more than 440 lb-ft of torque. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds. The vehicle includes Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes, and it features electro-hydraulic power steering.
The suspension system is based on an Advanced Reiger adjustable setup. Off-road capabilities are enhanced with Currie axles, a rear limited-slip differential, and ARB front locking differentials. The EV Bronco uses a 400-volt electrical architecture and a 105 kWh battery pack, with an estimated driving range between 175 and 200 miles. The battery system includes thermal management and is balanced between the front and rear of the vehicle.
Charging capabilities include a 6.6 kW Level 2 onboard charger and DC fast charging through CCS, allowing for a 20-80% charge in under an hour. The battery enclosure meets IP67 waterproofing standards. The vehicle features a centralized Vehicle Control Unit that manages battery, power, and vehicle systems, and also includes support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Icon’s first EV Bronco is called “Blue Star” and comes in a blue exterior color with a white leather interior. It is part of a limited run of 10 vehicles for 2025, priced at $449,000. Each vehicle will be customized in consultation with Icon founder Jonathan Ward. Every unit will also be uniquely numbered with a CNC-machined aluminum plaque.
The vehicle includes modern amenities such as electric windows and locks, air conditioning, power steps, and traditional Icon gauges adapted for electric vehicle metrics. Buyers can choose from different roof and door options, and Icon will accommodate custom interior designs.
