Evasive Motorsports will compete in the 103rd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) on June 22, 2025, with a modified 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The vehicle has been developed in partnership with Hyundai Motor America and will enter the electric vehicle class. This project represents Evasive’s most extensive EV program to date.
The race car, named the Evasive Motorsports Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Pikes Peak, is based on Hyundai’s performance-oriented electric crossover. In standard form, the Ioniq 5 N produces 641 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque when N Grin Boost is active. Modifications include a weight reduction of approximately 500 pounds achieved by removing interior components and replacing the doors and tailgate with carbon fiber versions.
Chassis and aerodynamic upgrades have been a primary focus, as the electric motors are not being modified. Voltex Japan has supplied custom aero components including a carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts, fender flares, underbody panels, and a rear wing. The car also features prototype EVS Tuning anti-roll bars, a six-point roll cage from Eimer Engineering, and a one-off coilover suspension system from Moton, designed in collaboration with Mike Kojima of MotoIQ.
The Ioniq 5 N is fitted with 19×11-inch Titan 7 T-P10 forged wheels equipped with EVS Tuning carbon fiber aero discs and Yokohama A005 racing slicks sized 310/690 VR19. Krontec air jacks have been added to streamline pit stop operations and protect the custom bodywork.
Veteran driver Rob Walker returns to the PPIHC for this effort. He previously drove for Evasive Motorsports from 2013 to 2016 and has experience racing both internal combustion and electric vehicles. Walker has been preparing for the event using simulator training and a personal Ioniq 5 N, which he has used to evaluate various tire and alignment configurations. His feedback has contributed to the race team’s development process.
Evasive Motorsports has been competing at Pikes Peak since 2013. Past entries have included a supercharged Scion FR-S, Toyota 86, Tesla Model 3, and Honda S2000. The team’s Tesla Model 3 set the fastest EV time in 2022.
The 2025 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be broadcast in full for the first time through the Racer Network and Racer+ app.
