Electric vehicle charging company Ionna has reported continued progress on its 2025 roadmap, including the expansion of its national charging infrastructure and the introduction of promotional pricing and partner integrations.
In April, six new charging stations became operational, doubling the company’s total to 12 locations and 120 individual charging bays. An additional 15 stations are currently under construction across 14 states, bringing the number of open or actively developing sites to 27. Ionna also stated that it now has over 200 contracted sites, up from the 100 it announced earlier in the year. These contracted sites represent more than 2,000 charging bays in various stages of planning or development.
Ionna has introduced temporary promotional pricing referred to as Friends & Family pricing. The discounted rates are available to all users without the need for a subscription or additional fees. The company also continues to expand compatibility with Plug & Charge functionality, enabling automated charging and payment. Plug & Charge support is currently live or expected soon for electric vehicles from five manufacturers: General Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
Vehicle manufacturers that co-founded Ionna have started to integrate their free charging credit programs with the Ionna network. BMW owners can locate and use Ionna stations via the My BMW app and in-car navigation systems, with Plug & Charge already active. General Motors has enabled Ionna access through its MyBrand apps, with Plug & Charge starting this quarter. Hyundai and Kia customers can use ChargePoint credits at Ionna stations, with Plug & Charge capabilities launching soon. Mercedes-Benz offers $1,000 in public charging vouchers applicable to Ionna locations. Stellantis EV buyers with qualifying models receive $600 in charging credits usable at Ionna. Honda and Toyota have announced upcoming discounts or integrations, with specifics to be released later.
Open Ionna charging sites are now located in North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kansas, Arizona, and Missouri. All stations operate 24/7 and provide charging at 400kW speeds. Many locations include amenities such as restrooms, food and beverage options, and other travel services. The company’s first Rechargery Market, offering additional customer amenities, opened in Garner, North Carolina.
Looking ahead, Ionna has announced plans to expand in California, beginning with the Vista Rechargery Relay site in 2025. Further updates on California developments are expected later this year.
