At a recent roundtable event, Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa provided updates on the arrival timelines for the upcoming Wagoneer S and Recon models. The Wagoneer S, which will be built on the STLA Large platform, is set to begin production in the second quarter of the year and is expected to go on sale around the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Recon, also expected to be an all-electric model, will be available in dealerships by the end of the year. The Wagoneer S will be introduced as a 2024 model year vehicle, while the Recon will be a 2025 model.

Filosa indicated that Jeep plans to offer a range of powertrain options in the future but confirmed that the Wagoneer S and Recon will maintain their all-electric architectures. He is considering other powertrain options, such as a parallel-hybrid system from the forthcoming Ramcharger, but did not make any definitive commitments regarding future models.

Additionally, Filosa announced that the Wagoneer brand will be integrated into Jeep’s lineup, including the new Wagoneer S model. Despite its smaller size compared to the Grand Cherokee, Filosa decided to retain the Wagoneer name for the S model.

Regarding Jeep’s vehicle lineup, Filosa acknowledged the discontinuation of the Renegade and noted that there are currently no new B-segment vehicles planned. He mentioned that while the global Avenger has been successful in other markets, it may not be suitable for U.S. consumers, a point of contention given the upcoming arrival of the similarly-sized Volvo EX30 in North America.

Filosa expressed dissatisfaction with Jeep’s current market share and outlined his intention to leverage the brand’s legacy to increase its market presence. The industry anticipates further details on Jeep’s electrification strategy under Filosa’s leadership.
