Kia America has introduced two new customized concept vehicles during the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. These vehicles, created by Kia Design Center America (KDCA), are designed to reflect future possibilities in terms of capability, adaptability, and utility, with a focus on sustainability. The SEMA show, known for showcasing concept vehicles and automotive accessories, provides a platform for manufacturers to display innovations that enhance vehicle performance, style, and safety.
At the 2024 SEMA Show, Kia’s design team from KDCA, based in Irvine, California, presented two concept lifestyle vehicles that aim to blend form and function while promoting responsible outdoor engagement. These concepts include the Kia EV9 Advntr EV SUV and the Kia PV5 Wkndr EV Van.
The Kia EV9 Advntr EV SUV is an all-electric, three-row SUV designed for off-road adventures. It features custom front and rear fascias and reinforced rocker panels for enhanced durability and off-road capability. The EV9 Advntr is equipped with a three-inch lift, larger tires, and a custom roof rack that can accommodate luggage or roof-mounted tents. This vehicle is intended to cater to outdoor enthusiasts, offering rugged styling and practical features for extended trips.
The Kia PV5 Wkndr EV Van is based on Kia’s line of electric Purpose Beyond Vehicles (PBVs) designed for small business use and delivery. The Wkndr concept, however, is targeted at those seeking extended outdoor escapes. The van features off-road tires and a modular interior that can be customized to maximize space and functionality. A notable feature is the “Gear Head” storage solution, which provides an external sheltered space for gear, allowing for better interior space utilization. The van also includes solar panels and hydro turbine wheels for recharging its batteries, as well as an onboard compressor for inflating tires or air mattresses.
Both vehicles reflect Kia’s approach to creating versatile, sustainable vehicles suited for outdoor activities and responsible travel.
