Lexus has unveiled the U.S.-spec version of the 2026 RZ, a battery-electric luxury SUV that now features an updated electric powertrain system, an expanded model range, and new design and interior elements. The vehicle is assembled in Japan and is scheduled to go on sale in the United States later in 2025.
The RZ, originally introduced in 2023 as Lexus’ first purpose-built global battery-electric vehicle, receives a series of updates for the 2026 model year. These include increased total system output, longer estimated range under ideal conditions, and enhanced charging capabilities. A new variant, the RZ 550e F Sport AWD, joins the lineup as the highest-output version, producing 402 total system horsepower.
The updated U.S. lineup consists of three models: the RZ 350e front-wheel drive (221 horsepower), the RZ 450e all-wheel drive (308 horsepower), and the RZ 550e F Sport all-wheel drive (402 horsepower). Lexus estimates that, under optimal conditions and when equipped with 18-inch tires, the RZ 350e will achieve an approximate range of 300 miles, the RZ 450e around 260 miles, and the RZ 550e F Sport approximately 225 miles on 20-inch tires.
The 2026 RZ adopts the North American Charging System (NACS) connector on the passenger side and supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging. An upgraded 11-kW onboard charger replaces the previous 7-kW system. Under optimal DC fast-charging conditions, the battery can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
The RZ 550e F Sport introduces a Lexus-first feature called M Mode, a virtual manual gear shift system that uses paddle shifters to control power output. This system is designed to simulate manual transmission behavior in an electric vehicle.
Exterior changes for the F Sport version include unique black trim elements, a rear spoiler, distinctive front and rear bumper moldings, a specific grille, and 20-inch wheels with aerodynamic covers. The model will also be offered in a new paint color called Wind, a light gray with metallic highlights, exclusive to the F Sport trim. Across the 2026 RZ range, Lexus will offer seven monotone and four bi-tone exterior paint options.
The interior of the 2026 RZ retains a minimalist design with luxury-focused materials and includes updates such as an enhanced panoramic glass roof that adjusts opacity. The RZ 550e F Sport features black Ultrasuede trim with blue stitching, aluminum pedals, an F Sport-branded steering wheel, a revised center console design, and scuff plates.
A new laser-etched Ultrasuede door trim with animated shadow illumination is also available. This feature builds on the door trim lighting introduced in the 2023 model and is designed to produce a subtle shifting pattern aligned with Lexus’ design philosophy.
The RZ continues to follow Lexus Driving Signature development principles, which focus on producing consistent and predictable handling characteristics along with a smooth and quiet ride.
Final specifications and U.S. pricing will be announced closer to the vehicle’s launch date.
