Liberty Plugins, Inc. has announced the availability of a turnkey solution for commercial operators of Enel X Way USA charging equipment. This follows Enel X Way’s decision to end its electric vehicle charging business in the U.S. and Canada, which will take effect on October 11, 2024. The closure will result in the loss of functionality for thousands of commercial Enel X Way chargers unless they are migrated to a compatible charge management platform.
Liberty Plugins, a company that has provided charge station management solutions for more than 15 years, offers the Liberty Access Platform (LAP). The platform is compliant with the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) and can support various types of chargers, including fast chargers and Level-2 and DC fast chargers. The platform is fully compatible with the Enel X Way system, allowing for a seamless transition for affected site hosts.
Liberty has a long history of innovation in the electric vehicle charging industry, having launched its first charge station management platform in 2009. The company’s platform is noted for its interoperability and value pricing, making it a viable option for workplaces, multi-unit dwellings, and other applications. Unlike some competitors, Liberty does not take a share of revenue from customer transactions, which may be advantageous for organizations focused on cost efficiency.
Commercial operators who are impacted by the cessation of Enel X Way’s services are encouraged to contact Liberty Plugins to migrate their systems to the Liberty Access Platform. To assist these operators, Liberty is offering 90 days of free service with a 12-month agreement to former Enel X Way customers.
