Lucid Group announced plans to deliver one of the first consumer-available Level 4 autonomous vehicles through a partnership with Nvidia. The company intends to integrate Nvidia’s Drive AGX Thor computing platform into future midsize vehicles to enable “eyes-off, hands-off, mind-off” driving capability.
Lucid said its roadmap for advanced driver assistance and autonomous technology will begin with enhanced Level 2-plus systems, launching first in the Lucid Gravity SUV and upcoming midsize models. The vehicles will use Nvidia’s Drive AV software to advance toward higher levels of automation. To reach Level 4 autonomy, Lucid plans to incorporate multiple sensors, including cameras, radar, and lidar, with a dual Drive AGX Thor computer system operating on Nvidia’s DriveOS.
According to Lucid, the Drive AGX Thor platform’s centralized, redundant architecture will unify vehicle automation functions and allow future over-the-air updates. The partnership also extends beyond vehicle technology. Lucid intends to use Nvidia’s Industrial AI platform and Omniverse software to modernize its manufacturing processes. These systems will support digital twins of factories, predictive analytics, and robotic automation aimed at improving production flexibility, quality control, and delivery speed.
Lucid described the collaboration as part of its broader goal to advance artificial intelligence in both vehicle development and manufacturing. The company currently builds the Lucid Air sedan and Lucid Gravity SUV in Arizona and Saudi Arabia.
