Lucid Group, Inc. announced an agreement to acquire certain facilities and assets previously owned by Nikola Corporation. The acquisition is subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and does not include Nikola’s hydrogen fuel cell electric truck business, technology, or customer base.
The agreement includes Nikola’s former manufacturing facility in Coolidge, Arizona, and the former headquarters and development center in Phoenix. These sites collectively add over 884,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space to Lucid’s Arizona operations. The facilities are equipped with development and testing infrastructure, including battery testing chambers, machining tools, and a chassis dynamometer.
Lucid also stated its intention to offer jobs to over 300 former Nikola employees in technical and operational roles, including manufacturing engineering, software, assembly, testing, and warehouse support at its Arizona facilities.
The acquisition follows the conclusion of Nikola’s bankruptcy auction, which occurred on April 10, 2025, as part of the company’s Chapter 11 proceedings.
Statements from Lucid’s interim CEO, Marc Winterhoff, and Arizona government officials expressed support for the acquisition, citing benefits to the local workforce and regional manufacturing growth.
Lucid continues to produce electric vehicles at its vertically integrated factory in Arizona and is preparing to scale production of the Lucid Gravity and future midsize platform vehicles.
