The Cybertruck is having a rough go at things. After an initial rush of people who simply had to have it, sales have slowed to a crawl. Things are so bad that Tesla isn’t even taking Cybertrucks in on trade, which is never a good sign. Another sign of the times is that insurance for vehicles, especially Teslas, continues to get more expensive. Perhaps this is the reason why.
Reddit user rcnfive shared a video of a Cybertruck launching a jet ski from in the water itself. The truck is nearly completely submerged underwater as the rider of the personal watercraft powers up the motor and speeds away. The Cybertruck then emerges from the lake in seemingly perfect working order.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk did say that the Cybertruck could be used as a boat for a short period, but this isn’t exactly that type of situation. Even if the video is cool, it’s an incredibly stupid stunt, and the driver is lucky that they didn’t have to call a tow truck to pull themselves — and their truck — out of the drink.
Posting stupid stuff on the internet is a good way to get in trouble, but it’s also a great way to show insurance companies that owners of Cybertrucks can’t be trusted to not do stupid things. When a vehicle is at a higher risk of being written off, the insurance companies raise prices.
Don’t do stupid stuff. And definitely don’t do stupid stuff on the internet.
