Mazda Motor Corporation introduced two new concept vehicles at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo: the Mazda Vision X-Compact and the Mazda Vision X-Coupe. Both models were presented under the company’s exhibition theme, “The Joy of Driving Fuels a Sustainable Tomorrow,” which reflects Mazda’s long-term goal of achieving sustainability by 2035.
The Mazda Vision X-Coupe is a crossover coupe concept that represents a further evolution of Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy, known as “Soul of Motion.” The vehicle uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a two-rotor rotary turbocharged engine with an electric motor and battery system. Mazda reports that the setup produces a total system output of 510 PS (approximately 503 horsepower). The X-Coupe can travel up to 160 kilometers (about 99 miles) on electric power alone, and up to 800 kilometers (about 497 miles) when using both the engine and motor together.
Mazda also stated that the Vision X-Coupe incorporates several sustainability technologies. The vehicle is designed to run on carbon-neutral fuel made from microalgae and features the company’s “Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture” system. Mazda claims that this technology enables the vehicle to help reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide while it is driven.
The Vision X-Coupe measures 5,050 millimeters (198.8 inches) in length, 1,995 millimeters (78.5 inches) in width, and 1,480 millimeters (58.3 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,080 millimeters (121.3 inches). Mazda did not release additional details about the Vision X-Compact, indicating only that both concepts embody the company’s vision for sustainable mobility and the continued refinement of Kodo design.
