Mercedes-Benz has introduced the next-generation GLC, now available with EQ Technology, as part of its electric-first strategy. The all-electric GLC 400 4Matic, the first model in the new lineup, delivers 360 kW (483 hp) of power and up to 713 kilometers (443 miles) of range under preliminary WLTP estimates. The model will be available in the first half of 2026 and features an updated platform, expanded interior space, advanced digital systems, and efficiency improvements.

The new GLC is built on an electric-first architecture that supports an 800-volt system, enabling DC fast charging at up to 330 kW. Under optimal conditions, up to 303 kilometers (188 miles) of range can be recovered in approximately 10 minutes. A lithium-ion battery with a usable capacity of 94 kWh powers dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors for all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz reports battery-to-wheel efficiency of up to 93 percent. AC charging supports up to 11 kW as standard, with an optional 22 kW onboard charger.

The vehicle incorporates the fourth generation of the MBUX infotainment system, powered by the AI-enabled Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This system integrates artificial intelligence tools from Microsoft and Google, allowing personalized interaction via the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which supports complex, multi-turn conversations. The optional 39-inch seamless MBUX Hyperscreen spans the dashboard, while the standard MBUX Superscreen combines three separate displays within a single glass surface.

Interior space has increased compared to the combustion-engine GLC, offering an additional 0.5 inches of front legroom, 1.9 inches of rear legroom, and up to 61.4 cubic feet of total cargo volume with the rear seats folded. The standard cargo area measures 20.1 cubic feet, and a front trunk adds another 4.5 cubic feet. The GLC can tow up to 5,291 pounds when properly equipped and includes features such as trailer stability control and automated trailer maneuvering assistance.

The cabin introduces a vegan-certified interior option, making Mercedes-Benz the first manufacturer to receive independent certification from The Vegan Society. Additional materials include Softtorino leather alternatives, Nappa leather, and natural fiber trims. The optional Sky Control panoramic roof uses switchable glass technology, and ambient star lighting is available.

Driver assistance features are integrated into the MB.DRIVE platform, utilizing ten cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors for semi-automated capabilities. Airmatic air suspension, rear-axle steering, and a new One-Box braking system aim to improve comfort, handling, and efficiency. Bidirectional charging capability allows the GLC to function as an energy source for homes or power grids when connected to compatible systems.

Production of the electric GLC takes place at Mercedes-Benz’s Bremen facility alongside conventional GLC models, with net carbon-neutral manufacturing processes. Mercedes-Benz states that the new vehicle achieves a two-thirds reduction in lifecycle COâ‚‚ emissions compared to the current combustion-powered GLC.
