The 2026 Nissan Leaf introduces a fully redesigned model with changes to exterior styling, drivetrain configurations, battery capacity, and technology features. It is scheduled to arrive at Nissan dealerships in fall 2025.
Now designed as a compact electric crossover, the 2026 Leaf has an overall length of 173.4 inches and a wheelbase of 105.9 inches. The vehicle’s design includes a sloped roofline and integrated aerodynamic elements. Nissan states that the new shape results in a drag coefficient of 0.26, an improvement over the previous generation’s 0.29.
Two powertrain variants will be offered. A standard 52-kWh battery paired with a 130-kW (174 hp) motor will be available in base trims, while a 75-kWh battery with a 160-kW (214 hp) motor is standard on higher trims. According to Nissan’s estimates, the longer-range version achieves up to 303 miles per charge and can recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes using Level 3 DC fast charging.
The 2026 Leaf includes both a J1772 port and the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. Nissan has also added Plug & Charge functionality, which allows compatible public chargers to start a session without requiring a separate payment or app interaction.
Interior updates include optional dual 14.3-inch screens on higher trims and a simplified dashboard with relocated shift controls. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included across all models. Top trim levels feature additional amenities such as a Bose® 10-speaker sound system, a panoramic dimming roof, ambient interior lighting, and heated seats.
Maximum cargo space is listed at 55.5 cubic feet with the second-row seats folded. Passenger seating remains at five occupants, with increased rear legroom due to revised seat and floor layouts.
Cold weather performance has also been addressed. The vehicle includes a sealed underbody to reduce exposure to snow and slush, and it uses waste heat from the drive motor to help warm the battery. A heat pump is standard, while a battery heater is optional on select trims.
Safety features include Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite, with standard items such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Additional driver aids include a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, Front Wide View, and Invisible Hood View. The Leaf also includes ProPILOT Assist and a new Secondary Collision Mitigation Braking system.
Trim levels for the 2026 Nissan Leaf include S, S+, SV+, and Platinum+. Pricing has not yet been announced. Nissan estimates that the 52-kWh version will be available in spring 2026.
