Volvo has introduced the EX30 Cross Country, a version of its fully electric small SUV designed with off-road capabilities. The vehicle was revealed during an event in Sweden in collaboration with outdoor equipment brand Fjällräven. The EX30 Cross Country builds on the standard EX30 with modifications intended to improve performance in various terrains.
The model features a higher ground clearance than the standard EX30, along with larger wheels. An optional 18-inch all-terrain tire package is available. It comes equipped with all-wheel drive to enhance traction in challenging conditions. Volvo states that the vehicle retains the EX30’s electric efficiency, with the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes.
The EX30 Cross Country also introduces design changes that reflect its off-road focus. The front shield and boot lid have a dark color scheme, and the front features artwork depicting the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Sweden. Skid plates and wheel arch extensions contribute to the rugged appearance.
The interior remains similar to the EX30, with storage solutions such as large door compartments, a central storage tunnel, and a glove compartment positioned beneath the center console. A sliding storage box for rear passengers is removable and washable. The vehicle includes Google built-in features, including Google Maps, and allows for preconditioning via the Volvo EX30 app.
Volvo has announced that EX30 Cross Country customers will have access to a package of accessories, including a roof basket, load carrier, and mud flaps. The vehicle will be available in the U.S. later in 2025, with additional details to be provided closer to launch.
