The sixth-generation Nissan Micra has been unveiled ahead of its European market launch later in 2025. Now fully electric, the compact hatchback returns to the B-segment with updated styling, a new electric powertrain, and a focus on connectivity and efficiency.
The redesigned Micra, developed at Nissan Design Europe in London, adopts a more robust and SUV-inspired exterior design. Standard 18-inch wheels, dark wheel arch trim, and LED lighting front and rear help give the vehicle a more assertive stance. A new “welcome wink” lighting animation activates when locking and unlocking the car. Buyers will have access to 14 exterior color combinations, with select models offering two-tone paint options.
The interior maintains a minimalist aesthetic while referencing Nissan’s Japanese heritage. Features include a Mount Fuji design element molded into the center storage area and a dual 10.1-inch screen layout: one digital display for the instrument cluster and another touchscreen for infotainment. Trim levels offer three interior themes labeled Modern, Audacious, and Chill.
Despite its compact dimensions (under four meters long and 1.8 meters wide), the Micra offers 326 liters of trunk space and rides on a 2.54-meter wheelbase. The vehicle will be sold exclusively in five-door configuration.
The Micra will be available with either a 40kWh or 52kWh battery pack. The 40kWh version offers 90kW of power, 225Nm of torque, and a range of 308 kilometers (191 miles). The 52kWh version increases those figures to 110kW, 245Nm, and 408 kilometers (253 miles) of range. Both models support fast charging, with DC quick charging from 15% to 80% taking approximately 30 minutes. A heat pump and battery thermal management system are standard.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality is included, enabling users to power external devices using the car’s battery.
The Micra is built on the AmpR EV platform and incorporates front independent strut suspension and a multi-link rear setup. The low battery placement, lightweight construction (1,400kg for the 40kWh model and 1,524kg for the 52kWh version), and quick steering response are intended to enhance performance and handling.
Connectivity features include Google built-in services via NissanConnect, as well as app-based remote access to vehicle status, charging, and climate control. Safety features include the availability of Nissan’s ProPilot driver assistance system and a full suite of driver aids.
Sales of the new Micra are expected to begin in Europe later this year.
