Nissan has announced new vehicle and technology plans for the European market, including the return of the Micra name as a fully electric vehicle, the third generation of the Leaf, and an updated version of the e-Power hybrid system. These developments will be followed in fiscal year 2026 by an all-electric version of the Juke.

The new Micra will debut in 2025 as a compact electric vehicle. Designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, the Micra will use the AmpR Small platform shared with the Renault R5. It will be offered with two battery sizes: 40 kWh and 52 kWh, with a range of up to 400 km depending on configuration. Production will take place at Ampere’s ElectriCity plant in Douai, France. Sales are scheduled to begin before the end of 2025.

The third-generation Leaf will also launch in 2025. This model will feature a new aerodynamic design and be built on the CMF-EV platform already used for the Ariya. The European version of the Leaf will be produced at Nissan’s Sunderland facility in the United Kingdom, as part of the company’s EV36Zero project, which integrates electric vehicle manufacturing with renewable energy and battery production.

Nissan’s e-Power technology will receive updates in 2025, focusing on improvements to efficiency, emissions, and refinement. The updated system will be introduced in the Qashqai. The company reports that nearly 250,000 e-Power vehicles have been sold in Europe since its debut in 2022.

In fiscal year 2026, Nissan plans to launch the third generation of the Juke as a fully electric vehicle. The next Juke will be based on the Hyper Punk concept revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023.

These updates are part of Nissan’s broader global product plan, which includes announcements for other markets such as North America, Japan, China, Latin America, and others.
