Opulent Velocity concept reveals Cadillac’s future V-Series design and technology

Cadillac has unveiled the Opulent Velocity concept vehicle, a significant advancement in its luxury electric vehicle strategy. This concept car represents the future direction of Cadillac’s V-Series, blending advanced technology with high-performance features.

The Opulent Velocity offers two distinct driving experiences: “Opulent” and “Velocity.” In Opulent mode, the vehicle utilizes Level 4 autonomous driving technology to provide a hands-free experience. This mode features a widescreen display and an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD), designed to create an immersive environment with tailored entertainment and ambient lighting based on scientific insights into sound and light.

Velocity mode, on the other hand, transforms the vehicle into a high-performance machine. Activated via a multi-functional controller, this mode allows drivers to take manual control by accessing the steering wheel and pedals. Inspired by Cadillac’s Blackwing track-proven engineering, Velocity mode includes a “Ghost Car” function on the HUD for competitive driving and customizable enhancements such as road overlays and adjustments to the vehicle’s suspension and aerodynamics.

The exterior of the Opulent Velocity is influenced by Cadillac’s V-Series.R hybrid racecars, featuring a low silhouette, dramatic surfaces, and a modern design. It is equipped with large butterfly doors and Cadillac’s signature vertical lighting elements, finished in a light Gilded Pearl hue.

Inside, the Opulent Velocity maintains a focus on luxury and technology with flowing, wraparound surfaces and a fully digital cockpit. It includes a 3D-enabled widescreen display, a Y-shaped racing-inspired steering wheel, and an advanced infotainment system. The interior materials, including those enhanced by 3D printing and advanced techniques like flax fibers and torched paint, underscore Cadillac’s commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
