Polestar has begun the production of the Polestar 3, an electric SUV, at its facility in Chengdu, China. This development marks a significant expansion of the company’s manufacturing capabilities. The production in Chengdu is part of Polestar’s broader strategy to enhance its global manufacturing footprint. In addition, the company is set to start production in South Carolina, USA, by mid-2024. An early production test series has already been completed successfully at the American facility.
Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, has emphasized the importance of this development in the company’s growth. The start of Polestar 3 production signifies a key phase in Polestar’s transition from offering a single model to introducing three different models within the year. Ingenlath also confirmed that the Ridgeville, South Carolina plant is prepared for production and that the company remains on track with its plans to manufacture the Polestar 3 in the United States.
The production of the Polestar 3 on both Asian and North American continents reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its market presence in North America, Europe, and Asia. This approach is aimed at expanding Polestar’s global reach and increasing the availability of its electric vehicles to a broader audience.
