Polestar has introduced a new feature for its Polestar 3 model through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. The update adds a feature called Abbey Road Studios Mode, available exclusively for vehicles equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system. This feature includes four new sound presets—Intimate, Open, Energised, and Expansive—alongside a customizable Producer mode.
The sound presets are designed to replicate specific auditory environments from the Abbey Road Studios in London, incorporating elements inspired by vintage EMI-era equipment used in the recording and mixing process. Each preset is paired with an image from the studio, displayed on the vehicle’s 14.5-inch touchscreen. The Intimate mode aims to emulate the perspective from a studio control room, while Open is intended to simulate a live performance setting. Energised focuses on replicating the acoustics of a lively studio session, and Expansive emphasizes depth and spatial dynamics.
Producer mode allows users to personalize audio settings using controls modeled after studio equipment. This feature enables real-time adjustments to the sound profile, catering to individual preferences.
The Bowers & Wilkins system in the Polestar 3 includes 25 speakers and offers 3D surround sound, Dolby Atmos support, active road noise cancellation, and a total output of 1,610 watts. The system uses the proprietary Continuum cone technology.
The Abbey Road Studios Mode is part of a broader OTA update that also includes features such as Stolen Vehicle Tracking and Smart Schedule for vehicle charging. Additional information about the update can be found on Polestar’s official website.
