Porsche adds rear-wheel-drive Macan and Macan 4S to electric SUV lineup

Porsche has announced the addition of two new models to its all-electric Macan SUV lineup: the rear-wheel-drive Macan and the Macan 4S. The rear-wheel-drive Macan is designed with a focus on efficiency, featuring a high-voltage 100 kWh battery and a rear-axle motor with an output of 250 kW (335 hp). It also includes a 480-amp pulse inverter with silicon carbide transistors to improve efficiency. This model can deliver up to 265 kW (355 hp) of overboost power and 415 lb.-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 136 mph.

The Macan 4S, positioned between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, features a new rear-axle motor and a 600-amp silicon carbide pulse inverter. It provides a system output of 330 kW (442 hp) and can deliver a short power overboost of up to 380 kW (509 hp). This model reaches 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 149 mph. Standard features of the Macan 4S include Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management, with optional upgrades available for Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and rear-axle steering.

Both models feature the second generation of Macan design elements, including aerodynamics optimized for range with a drag coefficient (cw) of 0.25 and an 800-volt architecture supporting DC fast-charging up to 270 kW. Under ideal conditions, the high-voltage battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes using a DC fast-charging station.

The Macan lineup also includes a new exterior color, Slate Grey Neo, and a 20-inch Macan S wheel. An optional off-road design package is available for all models, enhancing off-road capability with improvements to the approach angle and ground clearance. This package features a modified front bumper, air suspension, and 21-inch off-road design wheels.

The Porsche Driver Experience has been updated to include a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality, and new ambient lighting options. The display system features a new welcome animation and a Themes app for customizing background color and ambient lighting.

The new Macan models are available for order, with U.S. deliveries expected to start in the fourth quarter. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price begins at $77,295 for the rear-wheel-drive Macan and $86,895 for the Macan 4S, including delivery.
