For Porsche Taycan owners embarking on long road trips, using the built-in route planning software in the Porsche navigation system is a recommended approach. This system manages the vehicle’s charge level and directs drivers to charging stations, alleviating concerns about range anxiety.
However, Porsche now offers an alternative for those who prefer using their smartphones. With the My Porsche app, which should be up to date, Taycan owners can utilize a new feature in Apple CarPlay. Apple Maps, through the app, can access the Taycan’s state of charge and provide routing to charging locations based on availability, estimated charge time, and other factors.
Steffen Haug, Managing Director of Porsche Digital, Inc., emphasized that this integration offers customers more flexibility and confidence in their Taycan’s usage, both for daily driving and longer trips. This addition is seen as a positive step towards providing users with more options for navigation without removing support for Apple CarPlay, in contrast to some other manufacturers who limit choice in their systems.
The update for the My Porsche app, which includes this new feature, is reportedly already available.
